Christopher Hird is the founder and managing director of Dartmouth Films. The company's catch line is: Documentaries from Dream to Screen. Since its foundation in 2008, Dartmouth have pioneered new ways of funding, producing and distributing feature documentaries in the UK – particularly those which aim to have an impact, are aimed at specialist audiences and are often made by new and emerging feature documentary filmmakers. Their films have been shown at festivals and sold to broadcasters around the world, in addition to their theatrical release. Dartmouth have just been nominated in the Distributor of the Year category in the forthcoming Screen Awards, with three of their films - Children of the Snowland, The Ponds and Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf - nominated in other categories.
